I thought proteins such as red meat, chicken, and fish were hard for the kidneys to handle and therefore should be avoided??? Dietitian comment: There are some studies that suggest plant proteins may be beneficial to help delay progression of kidney disease, however there are no guidelines for people with kidney disease to avoid meat, poultry and seafood. The goal is to get the right amount of protein from these and other high quality protein service as part of a healthy diet.
