How long will it last after making it ? Dietitian comment: It will keep up to 2 weeks refrigerated.
Nice recipe and used olive oil and balsamic vinager as its core base.
Is it ok to use umeboshi vinegar? How much salad can I have per day with stage 3? Dietitian comment: Umeboshi vinegar has 1200 mg sodium in 1 teaspoon so is not ok to use. In stage 3 if you have normal potassium levels there is not restriction--eat a reasonable size bowl of salad. If you are on a low potassium plan limit to a 1 cup portion or lettuce with 1/4 to 1/2 cup mixed low potassium veggies.
this sounds like what i have been looking for - what about olive oil? Dietitian comment: Yes you can substitute olive oil or other preferred oil.
I just tried this dressing using balsamic vinegar and greek oregano and curly parsley (since I already have these herbs in my garden). It came out great, serving it with whole family. Our goal is to incorporate kidney-friendly food into our day to day food choices.
Can you use olive oil instead of canola? I am only exploring these recipes on behalf of my neighbor who is on dialysis. I want to try cooking for her so she canhave meals ready to go stored in her freezer. She is unable to cook right now and her husband isn't willing to cook to speak of. Also I read where they aren't to use any salt yet the savings cookbook has salt being added so now I am really confused. Thanks. Dietitian comment: Yes olive oil is a great substitute. Small amounts of salt can help make the meal taste better. It's the amount used and the total sodium per serving for the recipe that is important.
How much oil, and how much Vinegar? Dietitian comment: It's listed in the ingredients[INVALID]6 T. canola oil and 2 T. vinegar.
could I add tomato paste and pickle relish for Thousand Island style dressing? or is there kidney friendly recipe ? Dietitian comment: Suggest low sodium tomato paste, 1 tablespoon or less and the lowest sodium pickle relish. We will work on a kidney-friendly Thousand island Dressing recipe.
