Choosing a Dialysis Provider

Did you know that you have options when it comes to your dialysis provider, treatment facility and even dialysis treatment? Consider these questions to help you find a dialysis provider that's right for you.

1. What does the dialysis provider offer? Things to look for include:

  • Convenient location and schedule
  • Knowledgeable and friendly care team
  • Variety of treatment options (Peritoneal dialysis, home hemodialysis, in-center dialysis, in-center nocturnal dialysis, in-center self care)
  • Patient support services (emergency assistance, travel support, insurance specialists, prescription delivery)
  • Kidney health education classes and online resources
  • Comfortable and welcoming environment
  • Training for you and your care partner
  • Kidney diet tools and resources

2. Does the dialysis provider implement methods that aim to reduce the risk of hospitalization for its patients?

3. Does the provider conduct patient satisfaction surveys? If so, are the results readily available to review?

4. Can you schedule a dialysis center tour?
